Collection: Fritillaria

The name Fritillaria is derived from the Latin word fritillus, meaning “dice cup.” One of the most distinctive features of Fritillaria is the hole in the bulb, which is especially visible in larger cultivars. This is where the old flower stem was once attached. The bulb is quite delicate because it lacks a dry, protective outer skin. Nearly all Fritillaria varieties have nodding, bell-shaped flowers.
