Collection: Chionodoxa

Chionodoxa is derived from the Greek words “chion” (snow) and “doxa” (glory or fame), which is the origin of the Dutch name sneeuwroem (“glory of the snow”). The plant is also known as Cretan Glory of the Snow. It is an early-flowering bulb, with most species originating from Crete and Turkey. Chionodoxa is particularly suitable for naturalizing, for example under shrubs. The plant spreads through offsets on the bulb as well as by seed. It thrives in both sun and shade and is closely related to the genus Scilla.
